"Life of Bean"
Mixed media, oil paint and spray paint
20.3 x 50.8 cm

This linear mixed media painting is created with oil paints with a gold spray painted underpainting. It depicts coffee beans in the different stages of growth in color with an illustrated feeling. The transformation from the greenest bean to the darkest bean. A rainbow like effect highlights the green bean being the very beginning of life of the bean, growing into a reddish bean and finally a dark purple bean to representing the time when it is consumable. The placing of each bean gives it an animated look as though the beans have been tossed onto a hard wooden surface.  The background represents wood grain often associated with the aesthetics in most coffee houses. The gold spray paint represents the profits that are made from coffee consumption and the prosperity it can give to a small business owner. Gold also can express the feeling of joy and or relief people get when they purchase a cup of coffee.
