The inspiration for my artwork was to focus on my personal, humanistic connection with Coffee and my nationality. I was born in Venezuela, a country where Coffee is deeply ingrained in our national identity. Therefore, I wanted to pay homage to the most important players in coffee production with a portrait of a smiling "Cafetalero" from a town called "Calderas" in Barinas State, near the Venezuelan Andes. This community is in possession of a rich Coffee heritage that should be visually celebrated as much as the typical images of coffee consumption in coffee shops.
