"The Coffee House"
Plaster and ground coffee beans
8.5cm x 7.5cm x 5.5cm
This hand sized sculpture constructed from plaster and coffee has been inspired from my exhibition work
‘There’s No Place Like Home’, which focuses on issues around the idea of home and what ‘home’ may mean to
each of us. This bespoke sculpture explores the literal and metaphorical connotations of ‘having a coffee’, the
notions of ‘welcome’, friendship and communication. Smells can play an important and intrinsic part in our daily
lives and the smell of coffee always makes me feel at home. This piece of work reflects and connects to the
simple things of life which are intrinsically good.
