GRANDPA’S MORNING FIX
Coffee and oil paint
60 x 45 x 4 cm (unframed)

Grandfather loves coffee and enjoys sharing some history of it.

Long, long ago the goats in Ethiopia ate berries off some trees and became so spirited that they didn't want to sleep at night. The Arabs kept their trees for themselves and made the beans infertile by parching or boiling it. The Dutch wanted it and smuggled a whole coffee plant to Holland. They named their brew 'koffie' and the English called it 'coffee'. Men liked to spend a penny in the coffee shops or so called "penny universities". Women protested and caused women mania, but coffee wealth resulted in water aid in Tanzania.
