"I have measured out my life with coffee spoons"
Painting/Mixed
I have taken the title of my work from one of the seminal poems of Modern Age called The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock by T. S. Eliot ( 1888-1956). The poem is significant as it narrates the life of modern people living in the urban area in an unique way. The poem takes an interest in the urban cafe culture as well as the protagonist says: I have measured out my life with coffee spoons.
My work which is a combination of painting and mixed media portrays the urban space in a semi-abstract manner. A coffee spoon dangles with a jute-rope on top of the painting surface that relates the life of modern people and coffee shops/cafes. The juste-rope was used as the coffee beans are kept in ganny bags made of jute.
