"The Age of Coffee"

I was influenced by the smell and taste of coffee. I wanted this effect to manipulate my mark making and brush strokes to create a response that represents how it makes me feel. The lines are energetic and painted spontaneously. I feel that coffee makes me more awake and alert, even the scent has this effect which I think is represented in the work. I titled the work ‘The Age of Coffee’ because when thinking about coffee I consider how we use it to bond socially. There are many independent and chains of coffee shops around any town and it is becoming an increasingly popular way to socialise.
