The woman depicted in this drawing is a coffee farm worker from Rwanda. The coffee produced on this farm supplies to a speciality coffee business linked to the gender equality project led by Thomas Haigh of Tate coffee. My work has recently focused on women and gender equality in coffee, a passion that came about through working in the industry myself. It is important to consider people in the chain of coffee beyond the barista and how gender equality plays an important role from the picking of the cherries to the roasting to the barista that creates the final product.
