This piece titled “Inside Our Coffee” is a small yet powerful reminder as to what our coffee really consists of. This red gold that forms part of our morning routine is hard work that deserves admiration. Lots of people work tirelessly for the harvest of our coffee, and it is sad to see all that hard work and dedication be destroyed. Like it was when hurricane María struck my home. Due to that, the coffee production held here in Puerto Rico was almost eliminated with 90% of coffee trees being destroyed. What many people worked so hard for, gone. This situation, among others, really opened my eyes as to how sometimes we can take these things for granted. So next time we drink a cup, let’s take the time to really appreciate it, to appreciate the people who make it for us, and to simply appreciate life itself.
